Question 1

What is WhoIsCooking?

Accepted Answer

WhoIsCooking is a free macOS menu-bar utility at whoiscooking.site that shows which AI agent is heating up your Mac, with per-process CPU and energy readouts for background agents. It hit #7 on Product Hunt on October 26, 2026.

Question 2

Is WhoIsCooking free?

Accepted Answer

Yes—it launched as a free utility per its October 2026 Product Hunt debut. Check whoiscooking.site for the download and any notes on supported macOS versions.

Question 3

How is this different from Activity Monitor?

Accepted Answer

Activity Monitor lists processes; WhoIsCooking attributes them—mapping CPU and energy draw to the AI agents you are actually running, presented in the menu bar. It is a focused answer to one question instead of a general system table.

Question 4

How do I get started with WhoIsCooking?

Accepted Answer

Download it from whoiscooking.site, pin it in your menu bar, and start a normal agent workflow. The first time your fans spin up, check the readout—that is the whole evaluation.
